Not sure why this letter was sent to Adelaide when I was already working for them in Sydney.

Why the Drug Offensive May Fail, Financial Review, 23 May, 1986.

A PATHETIC DEFENSE FROM THE MINISTER FOR HEALTH NEIL BLEWETT AS TIME HAS SO AMPLY DEMONSTRATED, THE GOVERNMENT GOT THIS POLICY OFFENSIVE COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY WRONG. THE GOVERNMENT HAS REPEATEDLY IGNORED ACADEMIC AND EXPERT ADVICE IN FAVOUR OF SHORT TERM POLITICAL GAIN. THE ENTIRE COUNTRY NOW REAPS THE CONSEQUENCES OF POLITICAL, BUREAUCRATIC AND JUDICIAL IGNORANCE AND INCOMPETENCE.

SA musos deserve wider recognition, Financial Review, 27 March, 1986.

Voss, March, 1986.

I was friendly with many of the people mentioned in this story, including Richard Meale, David Malouf, Jim Sharman and Jim Waites.

Meale, Sharman and Waites have all passed on. The opera Voss was a massive event in everybody's life; and proudly regarded as a pinnacle of the country's cultural achievements.

A scene depicting Richard Meale's funeral is contained in the book Hunting the Famous. He became an increasingly difficult recluse in his final years. At the time this was written, Meale would regularly invite a group of us around to his house, including Ian Farr, where the party went on into the early hours...
