Abstract

Master Builders Australia says the Olympics, the GST and five successive interest rate rises led to 60,000 less homes being built this year.
Kings Bay Estate in Sydney's Five Dock, an elegant mix of townhouses and apartments, is an example of the extra efforts developers are going to in a tight market. High-quality finishings, a swimming pool, gardens and underground carpark are all part of the package.
"The strength of the US Nasdaq technology index was in the likes of Cisco and Microsoft, it wasn't in dodgy.com," said JB Were equities analyst Mike Kendall.

There was almost nothing left of the Toyota Camry caught between a truck and its trailer as it turned a corner yesterday. The car roof was caved in, a tyre was halfway up the back window and it was covered with the load of dirt from the truck.
The shaken truck driver said a blown tyre had caused the accident.. He did not wish to be named. "I just thank Christ the people weren't killed," he said.

Early drafts, Men and the Media, The Australian, 3 January, 2001.

These were some of the early drafts of Men and the Media, written for the Media Section of The Australian, which declined to publish despite my best efforts.
Being seen as sympathetic to men's issues in the media defines you, in a simple-minded PC dichotomy, as anti-feminist and has ruined many a journalist's career, most famously John Waters in Ireland.
This piece was finally published as Men and the Media on the Dads On The Air website.

Men and the Media, final original draft, The Australian, 3 January, 2001.

Final draft. Written for the Media Section of The Australian newspaper.
They would not run it. It was an era when everybody wanted to be seen as "progressive", and those who showed an interest in men's issues were dismissed as reactionary, right wing, misogynistic bigots, historic relics who could not embrace the bright future of equal rights.
Yes, well....
You could waste your breath forever pointing out that equal rights actually does mean equal rights.
The herd hold their government manufactured prejudices close.
The truth lies elsewhere.
