More than 30 shots were believed to have been fired after an altercation broke out between a number of men "of Middle Eastern appearance" in the beer garden of the Kings Head Tavern in Hurstville in Sydney's south.
The argument continued in the car park next to the tavern, where a large number of shots were fired and several cars damaged.
Three men were later taken to Hurstville Police Station.
Violence in Sydney's southern and western suburbs has become a major political issue in NSW in recent months following a spate of shootings.
Yesterday only one person was injured, with a graze to his knee.
"God knows how no one was seriously injured," a police spokeswoman said.
