One of the most prominent figures on the professional surfing circuit, Abberton is the third person to be charged over the death of Anthony Hines, whose body was found at the bottom of a cliff at Mistral Point, Maroubra, in August 2003.
SYDNEY surfing star Koby Abberton has appeared in court to face charges in connection with the murder of a standover man last year.
Abberton, a member of the surfing gang the Bra Boys -- from the beachside suburb of Maroubra -- was granted bail in Waverley Local Court on charges including being an accessory after the fact of murder.
One of the most prominent figures on the professional surfing circuit, Abberton is the third person to be charged over the death of Anthony Hines, whose body was found at the bottom of a cliff at Mistral Point, Maroubra, in August 2003.
Hines was shot several times, including in the head, and thrown over the cliff.
Abberton was also charged with perverting the course of justice, hindering a police investigation and concealing a serious offence. His older brother, Jai Abberton, has been charged with the murder of Hines.
