Abstract
On Sunday night, gunmen killed Sayed Frangieh, 59, on his front verandah in Merrylands. Police said the gunmen were targeting theFrangieh brothers, who were inside the family home.
The brothers were arrested in June 2001 for supplying drugs following a joint investigation and surveillance operation by the NSW Crime Commission and NSW Crime Agencies.
Police heading Taskforce Gain said this week the ongoing violence was madness and had to stop. NSW Premier Bob Carr yesterday backed police, saying he was confident the shooters would be caught.
TWO men targeted in a drive-by shooting that mistakenly killed their father outside his Sydney home this week were both convicted drug dealers.
Raymond and Joseph Frangieh were released from prison in February after serving 18 months for supplying cocaine.
Raymond was also convicted of selling the party drug ice, or methylamphetamine. Both men admitted during their trial to using cocaine.
Their criminal history was revealed as shootings continued yesterday in western Sydney, the scene of five gangland-style slayings in four months.

Raymond Frangieh, 23, is also the subject of a two-year apprehended violence order taken out by another man.

Police yesterday questioned two men after a third man had opened fire on them as they sat in their car in Guildford. It appeared they were fighting over money.
"The person was known to them (the men who were shot at) and there has been a history of dispute between them," Commander Allan Harding said.
In a separate incident, police were fired on early yesterday morning after they stopped a car in Sydney's Burwood Heights. No one was hurt and the shooter escaped.
